The client controls a large set of purchase policies, which are described in massive amounts of unstructured FrameMaker files, which needed to be converted to DITA, so that more versatile authoring, maintenance and publishing methods could be applied.
The main issue with these unstructured FrameMaker documents was not the extensive use of custom styles (we have mapped the DITA contents to match exactly what the content looked like before), but the massive amounts of cross-references in the materials. As the standard import methods in FrameMaker cannot handle external cross-references, we developed a script that does this job.
